Nothing marks the start of the holiday season quite like Pacifica’s annual Rockaway Beach Tree Lighting Ceremony. Held on the first Sunday of December, this event transforms Rockaway into a magical winter celebration — all just steps from the ocean.

Families arrive via shuttle and are greeted by festive music, live kid performances, food trucks, and local merchant booths lining the street. Children can enjoy free pony rides, arts and crafts, snow flurries, and a memorable visit with Santa. At 6:00 PM, the community gathers as the tree lights up the night — a moment that feels special every single year.

2. Pacifica Dog Surf Competition

Yes — dogs actually surf. And yes, it’s as adorable and impressive as it sounds. Every year, surf-loving pups hit the waves at Linda Mar Beach to compete in one of Pacifica’s most iconic and lighthearted events.

Spectators crowd the shoreline to cheer on the four-legged surfers while enjoying local vendors, music, and the unbeatable spirit of the Pacifica community.

3. Dog Days of Pacifica – Rockaway Ricky Calendar Launch Party

At the heart of the Rockaway Ricky Memorial Fund is our annual Dog Days of Pacifica calendar — a community fundraiser that supports pet food, supplies, and veterinary care for pets belonging to Pacifica seniors, unhoused neighbors, and local families in need.

Every year features a new theme and showcases dogs owned by Pacifica residents, business owners, and community leaders. The fun begins with an open competition where locals can submit their pups. Once the calendar is printed, we celebrate with a lively launch party complete with food, drinks, and plenty of furry friends. It’s one of our favorite events of the year.

4. Blues & Brews Downtown Stroll

A summer standout, the Blues & Brews Downtown Stroll brings Palmetto Avenue to life with live blues music, craft beer tastings, and local vendor activations. Presented by HOPE: Healing, Overdose Prevention and Education — in collaboration with the City of Pacifica’s Economic Development Committee and the Seaside Merchant Association — the event is the perfect blend of music, community energy, and coastal charm.

Guests receive a beer map and bracelet, then stroll through Palmetto, stopping at participating small businesses to enjoy pours, snacks, and fun activities at each location.

It’s a relaxed, sunny day filled with local pride.

5. Fog Fest

Fog Fest is Pacifica’s biggest celebration — and one of the most beloved festivals on the coast. Held each fall, this two-day event honors the spirit, creativity, and culture of the community. You’ll find:

• Local artisans & craft booths
• Live music across multiple stages
• Food vendors and local restaurants
• A family parade
• Kids’ activities and games
• And of course… plenty of fog

6. Rockaway Ricky Santa Paws

Every December, we host Santa Paws, a festive fundraiser for the Rockaway Ricky Memorial Fund. Families bring their pets to snap a holiday photo with Santa Claus, enjoy dog-friendly treats, and sip puppuccinos. It’s a joyful way to kick off the season while helping support animals in need within our community.
